Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha has directed all District Collectors and district election returning officers to immediately disburse allowances to all Booth Level Officers (BLO) involved in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sushant Kumar Mishra issued the directive via an official letter Wednesday, informing the authorities regarding the payments for personnel engaged in SIR duties.
The directive mandates that all BLOs deployed for the SIR 2026 work must be paid their allowances without delay. Under this scheme, each eligible BLO will receive a total of Rs 18,000, which includes a standard allowance of Rs 12,000 along with a special incentive of Rs 6,000. State records indicate that 45,250 BLOs are participating in the SIR process, for whom an allocation of Rs 81.45 crore has been sanctioned to clear the pending payouts. Officials clarified that the payout is performance-dependent, noting that BLOs facing pending complaints or adverse performance reports will be strictly excluded from receiving the financial incentive. Mishra added that personnel who have demonstrated exceptional efficiency in their duties will be duly recognised and commended in subsequent phases.
