Nayagarh: A panchayat executive officer (PEO) was nabbed by locals while allegedly distributing cash to voters in Kandapada panchayat under Ranpur block here Monday night. According to sources, the officer was distributing money to the voters at the household level.
Opposing the move, the locals detained the officer and tied him to a tree. On being informed, police reached the spot and took the accused officer into custody.
Reportedly, police have detained the officer and are interrogating him regarding the incident. Further investigation into the matter was underway.
