People in this country eat snake

Depending upon countries, eating habit of people also differ. Sampling local delicacies can be one of the most rewarding parts of international travel.

But there are certain foods that test the mettle of even the most adventurous travelers, particularly when it comes to eating animals that many people have an innate fear of – such as snake meat.

Vietnam has a similar story. People in this country see snakes as delicious and nutritious food. The tradition of eating snakes in Vietnam dates back to long ago. It is believed that snake meat is used to reduce the high temperature of human body, relieve headaches and stomach problems.

A dish made of snakes is now available in restaurants in Vietnam. The chef, who works in a restaurant in Yen Bai province, about three hours from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, said that snake are first boiled or fried with lemongrass. Its blood is mixed in rice wine and also served in the restaurants.

Snakes’ heads are cut off and their blood squeezed. People drink this blood after mixing it with alcohol. Many different dishes are prepared from the rest except the snake’s head and the surrounding parts.

The owner of a restaurant located in Yen Bai said that local people believe that only people over the age of 50 should consume alcohol made from snake blood, because in youth, taking it may cause body pain or impotence.

Snake catcher also said that that there are many benefits of consuming snake meat. Their meat is delicious as well as beneficial for health and bones.
