Bhubaneswar: In a welcoming step for waste management during the Rath Yatra, Puri district administration and municipality, in partnership with Hindustan CocaCola Beverages (HCCB), announced ‘used PET bottle-free’ initiative. The initiative is estimated to collect over 50 lakh used Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottles during the festival. HCCB Public Affairs and Communications chief Himanshu Priyadarshi called upon the Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra here Wednesday and handed him over the projected activity map for Rath Yatra. Mahapatra appreciated the initiative and said, “Promoting circularity and recycling practices, sets a benchmark for corporate responsibility towards sustainable development.” “With more than a million devotees to attend the festival, the initiative is impressive, not only in preserving the sanctity and cleanliness of this grand festival but also in leading the way for environmental stewardship,” he added.
