Bhubaneswar: The sixth edition of Drishtiraaga, an annual photo festival, was organised by Mushroom Photography Club at Lalit Kala Akademi (regional centre) here Saturday.
Noted cinematographer and Director Raju Mishra inaugurated the festival.
Around 110 frames by 39 members of the photography club were showcased. The photographs were poetry in celluloid, ranging from themes like nature, wildlife and street life. Several were candid shots too and the photographers did not forget to showcase pictures of travel and landscape genres too.
Interacting with Orissa Post, Mishra said, “Odisha has become a talent pool and we are witnessing it.” However, he admitted that it’s up to the viewer only to interpret a particular photo with his/her imagination. “Great work has been displayed and I would request everyone to visit the gallery and know what photography is all about,” he added.
On the occasion, two competitions were also conducted, one on road safety. The week-long fest has already attracted the crème de la crème of the society as well as photography enthusiasts.
February 20, a documentary short film festival will be held from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Members of the club Naba Kishore Nayak and Jitendra Pati both spoke on the qualities of a good photographer and the level of determination for the profession.
“A great photographer always analyses his own photographs and keeps on clicking till he gets the perfect shot. This particular profession requires patience, industriousness and most importantly timing,” Nayak said.
Pati opined that no photographer can be compared with any other. “Each photographer has a point of view, has his/her way of looking at things, a perspective of their own, so comparing them can be unfair,” he stressed.
In the coming days the organisers expect the turnout to increase, especially students from various schools, colleges and various other institutes.
Parinita Purnima who is a regular to the yearly fest said, “Every time I visit, I find something unique to dwell my eyes on. I am blown away by each and every photograph.” Kudos to the team for providing such a platform, she exclaimed.
