Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre Sunday recorded the season’s lowest temperature of 2 degree Celsius at Phulbani, even as temperatures below 10 degree Celsius were at 12 other places across the state.
Sundargarh experienced coldwave conditions with temperatures of 6 degree Celsius, followed by Daringbadi at 7 degree, Hirakud at 7.6 degree, Koraput at 7.8 degree, Titilagarh at 8.5 degree, Keonjhar at 8.8 degree, Angul at 9 degree, Jharsuguda at 9.2 degree, Bhawanipatna at 9.6 degree, Sambalpur at 9.7 degree, and Baripada and Balasore at 9.9 degree in the past 24 hours.
“A coldwave condition prevailed over the state because of the flow of northeasterly winds. This condition will continue till December 29.
The temperature may rise by 1 or 2 degrees around December 30 and 31 because of the moisture but the state will again experience a coldwave immediately thereafter,” said Met director Sarat Sahu.
Met officials said moderate fog may occur in the interior pockets of the state.
However, the weather over the coastal belt is likely to remain normal and flight services are not likely to be affected, said an official.
