Baisinga: A pigeon fitted with a plastic tag bearing the letters “BAN” was found at Kashipada village under this police station limits in Mayurbhanj district Tuesday, prompting police to suspect that the bird may have come from Bangladesh.
The pigeon landed near two children who were playing outside the village around noon. The children noticed a plastic tag attached to one of its legs, with the letters “BAN” written in English on it. After villagers found the bird, they immediately informed the police.
Sub-inspector Saroj Kumar Jena of Baisinga police station reached Kashipada and examined the pigeon. Suspecting that it might have come from Bangladesh, he took the bird to the police station for further examination.
Police said the pigeon would be handed over to the Forest Department for further investigation. The circumstances surrounding the bird’s arrival in the village remain unclear.
