Bhubaneswar, March 30: Senior officials are in a tight spot as three women employees of Bomikhal branch of IndusInd Bank Monday lodged a complaint with Sahid Nagar police alleging their state head was sexually harassing them.
The women working at the bank’s back office alleged Kasturi Surendra of Andhra Pradesh, their state head, has been harassing them and other women employees.
“Kasturi used to call us to his chamber and used to touch us. He used to ask us for an outing to places like Puri. He always used double-entendre during conversations,” said one of the complainants.
At least eight male employees of the bank had accompanied them to the police station with their female colleagues.
One of the male employees of the bank said Kasturi was very influential. For, complaints with the higher-ups against him yielded no results, he added.
“A Mohan Krishnan, the HR of the bank, came to Bhubaneswar and conducted a preliminary inquiry into the matter after complaints were lodged about Kasturi’s behaviour with women employees. Instead of taking action, Krishnan threatened the female employees with dire consequences if they did not keep quiet,” said another employee.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the case (145/2015) registered under sections 294/354/354-d/500/504/506/509 IPC. “Kasturi may be called for questioning Tuesday,” a police official said.
