Bhubaneswar, April 2: Evaluation of Plus II answer scripts hit a roadblock at the Buxi Jaga Bandhu (BJB) Junior College here after complaints poured in that examiners do not turn up at the valuation center.
A section of examiners complained that the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has not delivered on its promise to provide enough infrastructure. Moreover, the dearness allowance and the remuneration for each answer script are too little to motivate an examiner. “The council has hiked the remuneration for examiners of e-valuation whereas those doing manual evaluation get a ridiculous `15 for each paper. Every day we have to evaluate 15 answer scripts. Also, the complicacy in the process has invited trouble for us,” an examiner, requesting anonymity, said.
According to rules, evaluation centres should be equipped with air conditioners, 24/7 electricity and other basic facilities, but the scenario at the BJB Junior College tells a different story. “Forget about the ACs, frequent power cuts have become a headache for us. We work here till 5 pm till we have finished with our quota of answer sheets,” added the examiner. The deadline to finish with the evaluation of answer scripts cannot be met due to unavailability of examiners. “Only 60 per cent of the total examiners have turned up. The council provides a mere `140 as DA, how can a person stay in this city with so little money?” asked a senior official here.
Moreover, computer science and statistic papers do not have adequate number of examiners.
