Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Sunday praised an ASHA worker from Orissa for her valuable work in the service of society. During his 30-minute address in his ‘Mann in Baat’ programme broadcast on radio, he discussed the work of Jamuna Mani Singh, who belongs to Balasore district and has bravely fought against malaria in the district.

“In a small village in Orissa called Tendagaon, which is malaria infested, lives an ASHA worker. Jamuna Mani Singh has vowed not to allow a single death in her village. Through her dedicated efforts, which included creating awareness about the disease, she tried her best to avert the damages malaria causes. Through Jamuna Mani, I want to honour all ASHA workers for their services,” said Modi.

Jamuna Mani Singh has already been felicitated by the state government for her endeavours.

The ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme broadcast Sunday was the 14th edition of Modi’s radio address to the nation in which he often talks about some of the inspiring stories about community leaders and other people working for the welfare of society and setting shining examples for others to follow.
