Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s rich and diverse cultural heritage has found prominent representation in the PM Mementoes e-Auction 2026, with 62 artefacts showcasing the state’s traditions of devotion, handicrafts, painting, textiles, festivals and literary heritage.
The collection, featured in the eighth edition of the auction, brings together a range of artworks inspired by Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, along with distinctive cultural expressions associated with different regions of Odisha. Among the notable artefacts is a ‘Jagannath Parivar on Chariot’, depicting Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra seated on an intricately designed chariot drawn by four sculpted horses.
The piece reflects the spiritual and cultural significance of the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath at Puri. A Pattachitra painting portraying the Puri Rath Yatra is another highlight of the collection. The artwork depicts the deities on their chariots amid scenes of dance, music and festivities, showcasing the intricate detailing, vibrant colours and devotional character of Odisha’s traditional painting. One of the featured works is a devotional icon of Maa Samaleswari, created using Sambalpuri Ikat.
The artwork has been entirely hand-woven using the traditional Bandha technique, reflecting the distinctive textile heritage of western Odisha. The collection also offers glimpses of Odisha’s vibrant festival traditions. A framed print captures the Panchu Do la Melana, showing devotees carrying colourful miniature temple structures, while another photograph depicts the festival at Chilika Lake, with boats carrying village deities for their annual gathering.
