Nilagiri Forest Division - Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary - Poaching

Nilagiri: A poacher was arrested with seizure of two country-made guns from his possession near Gohirabhol in Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary under Nilagiri forest division in Balasore district Saturday.

The poacher was identified as Ramachandra Kushmalia, 41, of Betakata village under Keshipur panchayat and Berhampur police limits.

As per reports, the Forest department got a tip-off about the poacher’s entry from Balianal beat area under Jodachua forest in Kuldiha wildlife sanctuary and as per the instruction of Kuldiha ranger Prabir Murmu a team was formed to nab him.

Forester Soumyaranjan Majhi, forest guards and green force participated in the raid and arrested Kushmalia. A case (No- 6- K 2023-24) was registered by Kuldiha Forest department in this regard and the poacher was forwarded to court, Kuldiha ranger Murmu said.
