Bhubaneswar, June 12: Govind Poddar and Madhusmita Behera bagged the Saheed Sporting Maruti Estate Cricketers of the year Awards 2015-16 here Sunday.
Both the cricketers were awarded because of their stellar performances in the Ranji Trophy and women’s cricket respectively. Poddar was presented with a cash prize of `31,000 along with a trophy. Madhusmita received a cash prize of `21,000 and a trophy.
FAO League
Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will organise the FAO First Division League at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack, starting July 20.
The decision has been taken in the FAO Council meeting under the chairmanship of secretary Sanjay Behera at the OCA conference hall, Sunday.
“Twenty six teams will participate in the biggest domestic football tournament of the state this year. Transfer of players has already been completed. All the clubs can include maximum of three foreign players in their squads,”FAO stated in a press release Sunday.
Maharashtra triumph
Maharashtra boys’ and girls’ teams emerged champions in both the 26th Sub-Junior National Kho-kho Championships and Federation Cup at the KIIT University Ground here, Sunday.
In the sub-junior tournament, Jharkhand boys finished runners-up while Karnataka secured the second spot in the girls’ category.
