Police DG in Malkangiri to boost anti-Maoist ops

Malkangiri: Director general (DG) of police Rajendra Prasad Sharma Thursday visited the district and held discussions with senior police officials to devise a mechanism to address anti-Maoists issues.

Sharma first visited the BSF camp of Badapada in cut-off region and sought to know about the status of the mission.

Later, he visited Gurupriya bridge construction site and took stock of the security arrangements.

The DG attended a high-level meeting at the police headquarters here and wanted to know from top police and BSF officials about the plans to counter the ultras. He laid emphasis on better coordination between police, SOG, DVF and BSF and acknowledged that eradication of Maoists problem is a time-consuming process.

Joint operations with BSF in Malkangiri and CRPF jawans in other districts are on to achieve success in the mission, Sharma told media persons.

Crime branch IG Asit Kumar Panigrahi, IG (operations) RP Koche, BSF IG SK Singh, DIG- special intelligence Narasingh Bhol, south-western DIG S Saini and Malkangiri SP Jagamohan Meena along with other officials attended the meeting.  PNN
