Police exhume body as family of victim suspects murder

Kendrapara: Police exhumed the body of a 36-year old woman at Indupur under Nikirai Police station in the presence of local Executive Magistrate Wednesday after the family members of the deceased alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws.

Nikirai Police station IIC Kabuli Barik said that Parbati Mallick (36) was married to Chittrasen Mallick of Indupur village 12 years back.

Mother of two children, she was said to be suffering from fever and was first admitted to Indupur and later shifted SCB medical college and hospital for treatment. She died while undergoing treatment June 8 last.

But the brother of the deceased, Ranjan Mallick in an FIR alleged that his sister was murdered by her in-laws who buried her body without informing them.

Mallik further alleged that the in-laws of his sister did not inform them about her sickness nor did they inform about the death of his sister. His sister was physically tortured most of the time by his brother-in-law.

Mallick said his brother-in-law had an illicit affair with another woman.

Acting on the FIR, police registered a case u/s 498 (A), 302, 304, 201, 34 IPC. The case is currently under investigation.

The IIC said that a scientific team had sent it to district headquarter hospital for autopsy following which the body was exhumed.
