Bhubaneswar: The uncertainty over the long-delayed Odisha Police Sub-Inspector examination is set to end, with the test likely to be held in November, officials said.
Odisha Uniformed Staff Selection Commission (OUSSC) chairman Rashmiranjan Swain said a formal notification regarding the examination is expected to be issued next week. Details will also be communicated through the commission’s official website and various media platforms. The examination had been put on hold as candidate data was caught up in a forensic laboratory process and court investigation, Swain said. The legal issues are now nearing resolution, he added.
Candidates will be required to revalidate their credentials using an OTP sent to their registered mobile numbers and email addresses. Admit cards will be issued after verification of the details. The examination will be conducted as far as possible under the rules, conditions and syllabus specified in the earlier notification, Swain said. The exact date will be finalised after a meeting of the commission and announced through a formal notification.
The commission aims to complete the entire recruitment process, including the physical efficiency test, before the end of the winter season, he said. Meanwhile, the state government is working towards conducting a single combined recruitment examination for about 7,000-8,000 vacant constable and equivalent posts in departments and forces including prisons, forest, excise, transport, armed police and industrial security. The move is intended to prevent candidates from having to appear for multiple examinations throughout the year and reduce the time and financial burden on applicants, Swain said.
