Polycab eyes 1 lakh fan sales this fiscal

Bhubaneswar: Cable and wires company Polycab is hopeful to sell one lakh units of fans this fiscal, according to a top official. The company conducted its retailers’ meet at a hotel here Thursday.

“The main objective of our retailers’ meet this year was to educate them about our new offerings in the fans’ segment. More than 100 retailers have participated in the meet,” Prashanta Das, chief general manager, sales (fans business), Polycab Wires Private Limited, told Orissa POST.

He said the company is hopeful to sell one lakh units by March 2018 and 1.5 lakh units by next fiscal. The industry size of fans in the state is around 12 lakh units for organised operators while the figure was 22 lakh units for the non-organised sector.

Das said Polycab is the only company in the fans sector that has a manufacturing hub in Roorkee with an annual production capacity of 40 lakh units.

“We are hopeful to achieve a turnover of Rs 75 crore from the state by March 2018 and out of that figure, the contribution of fan segment would be around Rs 15 crore,” Das said.

He sounded confident that the company could reach its turnover-target of Rs 100 crore by next fiscal.

“We have a variety of fans with a price range of Rs 1,200 to Rs 5,000. As a distributor we see good response from customers,” Amit Kumar Singha said. (PNN)
