Poor road connectivity pause development in Kashipur village

Kashipur: It seems like the development has taken a pause for Banatej village in Sunger gram panchayat under Kashipur block in Rayagada district thanks to the poor road connectivity to the village.

The Banatej village, which is four km away from the gram panchayt and where more than 100 families reside, has two roads connecting to the village. However the conditions of these two roads are so bad that it is impossible for one to walk on one road as the road is full of potholes.  While, the residents have to cross a canal to reach the village as there is no bridge over the canal. However, the villagers fail to cross the canal in rainy seasons as the canal overflows due to rainwater.

Similarly, the villagers suffer a lot from getting clean drinking water as there is only one tube well in the village to provide drinking water to the residents.

However, it fails to give more water after three to four persons take water out if it, following which the villagers have to collect water from a nearby canal. Following which the villagers have suffered from water-borne diseases, informed a villager, Pabitra Naik.

On the other hand, the villagers have alleged that, they have been demanding for repair of the road, construction of a bridge over the canal and installation of more tube wells in the village, at the administration, but no action was taken so far.
