Talcher: A girl belonging to Majhika village under Colliery police limits in Angul district has swindled Rs 4,57,385 from a local doctor posing as an insurance agent of a private company. Talcher police arrested the girl and forwarded her to court Friday. The girl has been identified as Deepa alias Supriya Swain.
Deepa had come in contact with retired doctor Bijaya Kumar Pradhan a few days back. Pradhan had been staying with his brother near a local temple here and was working as a private practitioner.

Taking advantage of the doctor’s simplicity, Deepa approached Bijaya for buying an insurance policy in his own name. He also informed Pradhan that he can pay in easy installments. After gaining the doctor’s confidence, Deepa managed to withdraw the sad amount from the former’s State Bank of India account in 15 installments.
After the matter came to light, Pradhan lodged a written complaint at the Talcher town police station. Acting on the FIR lodged police arrested Deepa and a case (No.-374/20 under IPC Section 420) was filed in this connection.
