Jharsuguda: Power production has been badly affected in Odisha after two units of the Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) Limited situated at Banharpali in Jharsuguda district got disconnected from Budhipadar electric grid sub-station Thursday afternoon.
This situation comes close on the heels of Talcher Thermal Power Station (TTPS), owned by NTPC, ceasing its unit in Angul district.
Around 420 megawatt of power production was disrupted owing to disconnection of the OPGC unit alone, an official source said.

On being informed about the disconnection and ceasure of production, OPGC managing director Prashant Kumar Mohapatra immediately reached the unit and took stock of the situation, the source added.
Following a complete blackout in the Budhipadar grid sub-station, the first and second units of OPGC here tripped, public relations officer (PRO) of the OPGC project Himanshu Sekhar Behera expressed.
Notably, power production was also severely affected earlier for two consecutive days due to leakage in tube in the second unit April 3.
