New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Wednesday felicitated ace shuttler PV Sindhu by presenting her a traditional Odia shawl and a commemorative coin issued by government of India’s Mint on the occasion of Nabakalebara Festival.
Calling her a national pride, Pradhan congratulated Sindhu for winning gold at BWF World Championship held in Switzerland recently. He also wished her all the best for her future endeavours, including 2020 Olympics.
Terming her as a ‘youth icon’ capable of driving social change, Pradhan suggested that she lent her voice to national missions and campaigns like Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jal Shakti Abhiyan, putting an end to single use plastic and other initiatives envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to media after meeting the minister, Sindhu expressed her happiness and thanked Pradhan for felicitating her. She also thanked Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for supporting her. Notably, Sindhu is the brand ambassador of RINL.
