Bhubaneswar, October 31: Orissa’s top strike bowler Suryakant Pradhan who scalped four wickets to decimate Delhi’s batting stated Saturday that his side is in a good position and can achieve three points from the crucial encounter.
“We bowled to a strategy and have been successful so far. Our head coach Debashis Mohanty told us that we should not give away too many runs if we failed to get wicket. It worked for us,” Suryakant stated at the end of the day’s play at the KIIT Cricket Stadium.
“Had we taken one or two wickets more, we would have been in a more advantageous position. We will try to bowl them out within 280 Sunday. Then we have a very good chance of getting the all important first innings lead in the match, which is heading towards a certain draw,” he added.
“Govind Poddar, Anurag Sarangi and Pratik Das are in good form. Hopefully senior players like Natraj Behera, skipper Biplab Samantray and Abhilash Mallick will return to form at the right time. The pitch is playing well. Hopefully things (weather) will improve in the next two days and conditions will suit our batting,” the fast bowler added.
Suryakanta has so far picked 18 wickets in the season. “I hope to maintain consistency throughout the season and my target is to get at least an India A call.” The fast bowler also stated that he needs more exposure to flourish as a pace bowler. Training sessions at MRF Pace Foundation may help his cause.
