Cuttack, June 1: Bhubaneswar emerged overall champions with 340 points, while Sambalpur finished runners-up with 244 points in the 56th State Swimming Championships, which concluded at the OCA Swimming Pool, Barabati Stadium here Monday.
Bhubaneswar took the top honours in the senior women’s, junior boys’ Group-I, junior girls’ Group-II, sub-junior boys’ and girls’ Group-III categories. Sambalpur clinched the title in the men’s, junior boys’ Group-II, girls’ Group-II and sub-junior girls’ Group-IV categories. Cuttack emerged champions in the sub-junior boys’ group-IV category.
In the individual events, Pratyasha Roy and Adyasha Mishra hogged the limelight by winning eight medals each. In the men’s event, Sayantan bagged four gold medals. Orissa Olympic Association secretary Asirbad Behera joined as chief guest and distributed prizes.
