Keonjhar: On the run for 22 years, prisoner Jamdar, also known as Jayaprakash Laguri, 57, son of Nandalal Laguri of Tandaghutu village under Jagannathpur police station in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand was arrested by Keonjhar Town police and produced in court Thursday.
According to police, Laguri was arrested in 1997 in connection with a murder case under Champua police station limits and was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Keonjhar Sessions Court in 1998. He was granted a 14-day furlough in 2003 but failed to return to jail. After evading authorities for 22 years, the Town police arrested him and presented him before the court. “An investigation is underway in this regard,” said Srikanta Sahu, Inspector-in-Charge of the Town police station.
