Private firm MD robbed of Rs 4 lakh

Bhubaneswar: In a major daylight heist, two miscreants robbed Rs 4 lakh from a private firm employee here Thursday.
The incident occurred near Shriya square at a distance of 100 meters from Kharvelnagar police station. Victim, Ajay Swain, Managing Director of Pulak Mohanty constructions, was riding on his bike after withdrawing Rs 4 lakh from ICICI bank main branch at Kharvenagar. Swain was going to deposit money in Axis bank near Ram Mandir square.
According to sources, two unidentified miscreants on a black Pulsar bike chased Swain to rob him. While they were snatching bag, Swain tried to avert them but all his effort gone into vain and he fell down on the road. Till he get up, miscreants fled with the bag.
Swain soon went to Kharvelnagar police station and lodged complaint.
Following his complaint police registered a case and launched manhunt to nab the offenders.
“We have started investigation. We will examine CCTV footage in the area and do a verification to know how the crime happened,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrat Bhoi.
