Ganjam: A five-member team visited Podagada village under Ramgad panchayat under this block in Ganjam district and began a probe into various irregularities in the allotment of houses under the Orissa Disaster Recovery Project (ODRP) scheme Wednesday.
The team was constituted by an order of the high court. The order came after 31 families filed a petition in the high court after they were deprived of houses under the ODRP scheme.
By the orders of the HC, Chhatrapur ADM Bijay Kumar Dash, sub-collector Sudhakar Sabar and several revenue department officials visited the village to probe the matter.
They visited the houses of Sebani Palei, Damayanti Palei, and several others and inquired into the incident. Eighty of the 182 families benefitted from the ODRP scheme, the administration said.
According to sources, villages near Chilika were washed away by Phailin in 2013. Houses were provided to Phailin-hit families under the ODRP scheme. However, many genuine beneficiaries were deprived of the benefits. These families later filed a petition in the high court. A report will be prepared after the probe, officials said. PNN
