Probe ordered into ‘drunken dance’ at SCS

Puri: Collector Jyotiprakash Das Wednesday ordered a probe into the allegation that some students of Samanta Chandra Sekhar (SCS) Autonomous College here had consumed liquor during the Saraswati Puja celebrations February 10.

A video of some boys and girls dancing with liquor bottles in their hands on SCS campus went viral on social media a few days ago. A report in this regard was published in a section of media.

Das has expressed concern over the issue and held discussions with SCS College principal Prafulla Mohanty.

According to sources, Das has asked SCS authorities to find out whether any faculty member of the college was present during the puja celebrations. “Schools and colleges are like temples. No one has the right to destroy the sanctity of these institutions. We have talked to the SCS College principal and asked them to take all possible steps to prevent similar incidents in future,” Das said.

The college principal said they have constituted a committee to probe the alleged incident. “We would take appropriate action after receiving a probe report from the committee,” he added.
