Anandapur: Scores of women of seven SHGs gheraoed the Ghasipura police station in Keonjhar district Friday, seeking action against some people who have defrauded them of Rs 10 lakh on the promise of loans.
They alleged Ayusmati Sethi and Rakesh Sethi of Kanra village have formed seven SHGs. The duo had promised the SHG members of facilitating loans for income-generating activities and later took signatures of all SHG members in loan-related documents.
However, the SHGs had not been provided with loans.
Surprisingly, staff of some financial institutions knocked on the doors of SHG members, demanding to loan repayment.
The women were shocked and realised that the fraudsters had taken away their loan using their signatures on loan documents.
The SHG members demanded a probe into the wrongdoings.
