Bhubaneswar: Lok Sabha MP D Purandeswari has been appointed the BJP’s in-charge for Odisha, with party national secretary Swadesh Singh named co-in-charge, as part of a nationwide reshuffle of the party’s state and Union territory organisational responsibilities.
The appointments, announced Wednesday by BJP president Nitin Nabin, take immediate effect, according to a party notification.
Purandeswari, a senior BJP leader, will oversee the party’s organisational affairs in Odisha, while Singh will assist her as co-in-charge.
The BJP also announced in-charges and co-in-charges for all 28 states and eight Union Territories.
National general secretary Smriti Irani has been appointed in-charge for Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while BJP vice-president Ram Madhav will oversee Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand.
