Puri, March 2: A team comprising the health and water resource secretaries visited the district headquarters hospital here Monday to take stock of preparations for the upcoming Nabakalebar festival.
Disappointed at the dismal state of the hospital’s drainage system, health secretary Arti Ahuja pulled up the chief district medical officer and senior staff of the hospital for their failure to ensure a proper drainage system.
Ahuja directed the CDMO to sort out the drainage issues before the festival kicks off. Ahuja, who was accompanied by water resources secretary Pradip Jena and additional secretary Upendra Behera, sought the reasons for not releasing drain water and directed hospital authorities to provide the blueprint of the drainage system. The secretaries were informed that the sanitary drive had gone haywire because of a poor sewage disposal system.
Ahuja also paid a visit to the women health workers’ training centre. She expressed dismay over the hospital authorities’ failure in addressing the problems of health workers.
