Pyari fifer sinks UP

Bhubaneswar, Jan 2: AIFF’s ‘Emerging player of the Year’ Pyari Xaxa justified her billing and scored all the five goals including a hat-trick to help Orissa drub Uttar Pradesh 5-0 in a match of the 21st Senior Women’s National (Final round) Football Championships at Jabalpur, Saturday.
Pyari opened her account in the 27th minute and Orissa went into the lemon break with the solitary-goal lead.
After the change of ends, Pyari toyed with the opposition defence to score four more goals in the 57th, 61st, 66th and 74th minutes respectively to complete the rout. Orissa will meet Tamil Nadu in their next match Monday.
Preparatory camp
Football Association of Orissa (FAO) will organise a preparatory-cum-selection camp at Cuttack to select the senior team which will participate in Santosh Trophy to be played at Kolkata in February.
Shahid Jabbar and Raj Sekhar Pradhan have been appointed as the coaches of the team while Gopabandhu Sahoo has been inducted as the goalkeeping coach. Altogether 107 players have been asked to join the camp.
