Bhubaneswar, Dec 23: Pyari Xaxa got her second successive hat-trick of the tournament as Orissa eves routed Sikkim 5-0 in a match of match of 21st Senior Women’s National East Zone Football Championships at Kalyani, Wednesday.
Pyari scored in the 27th, 50th and 82nd minutes of the game. The other two goals were scored by Susmita Dalei (16th minute) and Sakina Nesha in the 19th minute. It was a one-sided affair and the Orissa eves rarely allowed the opposition to have a look at their goal. In the last edition of the tournament, the eves had finished runners-up.
Sports Hostel triumph
Sports Hostel, Rourkela defeated defending champions Government Module School, Jalandhar 2-0 to win the under-17 title of the 12th All India Sardar Balwant Singh School hockey tournament at Jalandhar, Tuesday.
After a barren first session, the Rourkela boys started the second in an aggressive fashion and they were duly rewarded when Siben Lakra opened the account in the 47th minute with a solo effort.
Inspired by the lead, Sports Hostel continued to attack and made the issue safe when Mandeep Kerketta converted a penalty corner in the 61st minute.
Along with the trophy, the Rourkela boys also won a cash award of `1.25 lakh. Pratap Lakra of Sports Hostel was adjudged the best defender of the tournament.
