In the West, small talk serves the same purpose as the kiddie side of a cold swimming pool. But, in India, small talk is an investigation. Your conversation partner is trying to piece together something about you. Who are your parents? What do they do? Where do you work? Where did you go to college? How many children do you have? What is your wife’s name? Do you have brothers and sisters?
These are not just polite conversation starters; these are interrogation questions. This interrogation has two goals. The first is to categorize you. The second is to find a way to get you into their circle.

When are you settling down? Well, In West, one may not consider marriage to be the end-all of all relationships, but in India people think a girl/woman is only for marriage.
You are married, you don’t need to work: Every women have their own ambition and it is not mandatory that if woman is married, she doesn’t need to work. All women are capable to handle both job and the family life better than men.
Once you are married, your career will end: It is not necessary that if a woman will get married then her whole career will spoil or end. Their ambition and dedication can take to any point of the career to the high standard.
You must have a child to keep your marriage intact: In India, people think that women marry only to serve the family and bear children. However, things are slowly changing and women are becoming independent.
