Raids at SCB clerk’s house yield Rs40 lakh assets

Cuttack, May 16: A Vigilance raid on the properties of a head clerk-cum-accountant working at SCB Medical College and Hospital led to the detection of assets worth over Rs 40 lakh.
Vigilance sleuths Saturday raided and searched the properties of Pradeep Kumar Rout after receiving a tip-off on possession of assets disproportionate to his sources of income. Among the places raided were residences at Fakirpur and Nimpur in Cuttack, Rout’s office room at the Mental Health Institute at SCB, a house at Chakapada and his brother-in-law’s residential quarters at SCB Colony. All the places were simultaneously searched.
Movable assets included household articles worth Rs 3.95 lakh, a TVS Scooty, a Hero Extreme motorcycle worth      Rs 1.09 lakh, gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 2.24 lakh, cash deposits in different banks, LIC premiums and other policies and cash worth Rs 5.81 lakh and hard cash worth Rs 29,750.
Immovable assets included a triple-storied building worth Rs 25.48 lakh, a plot at Nimpur and another plot at Jatni Road in Bhubaneswar worth Rs 1.61 lakh. The total movable and immovable assets detected during the search were estimated at Rs 40.49 lakh.
