Railway worker injured in bullet ricocheted from firing training camp

Barang: A government railway employee, working on the tracks, suffered injuries after a bullet ricocheted from a fire training camp hit his right hand at Talagarh near Naraj here in Khurda district, Tuesday.

He has been identified as Surya Prakash Pal of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, a bullet hit Pal’s right hand when he was working on the tracks near Naraj Siddheswar Mundia. Seeing him collapsing on the tracks, fellow workers rushed to his rescue.

They immediately removed the bullet that had gone half-way in his hand and informed the higher officials.

Following the direction of officials, Pal was then rushed to the Railway Hospital at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, 70 RPF jawans are undertaking training on firing at the Talagarh firing range under the guidance of Suryakant Padhi.

When asked how the bullet lost its direction and hit a Railway worker, Padhi refused to comment.
