Rain continues to play spoilsport

Bhubaneswar: Rain continued to play spoilsport as only two overs were possible on the third day of the four-day Orissa-Tripura Ranji Trophy encounter at the Vikas Ground here Sunday.

Orissa won the toss and opted to field first. Only two overs could be bowled after a late start as rain returned and bad light forced the umpires to call off the day. Tripura were six without loss with Bishal Ghosh (4 batting) and Udiyan Bose (2 batting) occupying the crease at stumps.

Other group C results

At Chennai: Tamil Nadu 176 & 112/2 (Abhinav Mukund 54 n o) vs Andhra Pradesh 309 (Bodapati Sumanth 109; Ravi Ashwin 4/71). Match to continue.

At Indore: Madhya Pradesh 551/8 d vs Baroda 302 & 41/1 (Aditya Waghmode 31). Match to continue. 

Eagles triumph

Banaigarh Eagles beat Budharaja Tuskers by nine wickets in the final of the Navodaya Premier League (NPL) to clinch the title at Nimpur sports ground in Cuttack, Sunday. Electing to bat first the Tuskers were bowled out for a paltry 77 runs. Ranjan Behera (33) was the top scorer. For Eagles, man of the match Abhijit Pradhan bagged six wickets. In reply the Eagles reached their target in just 7.5 overs for the loss of only one wicket with Milan Sahoo (37) leading the chase.  

Mukteshwar in final

A brilliant hat-trick by Sailesh Mohanty helped Mukteshwar Football Club book their place in the final of the 14th Gati Krushna memorial (Division-B) football tournament beating Mothers Football Club 4-1 in the first semifinal here, Sunday.

For Mukteshwar, Sailesh scored in ninth, 11th and 28th minutes while the other goal was scored by Rajiv Das in the 44th minute. For Mothers FC Pritish Pattanaik scored the only consolation goal in the 58th minute.
