Rain may dampen New Year spirit

Bhubaneswar: Rain may dampen the New Year celebrations in some places of the state, as the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre predicts rainfall in coastal and interior Orissa during next three days.
“Light rainfall is likely in some places over coastal and interior Orissa in between December 31 and January 2 under the impact of a trough line. The weather will be cloudy in many places across the state during these days,” said director of the Met Centre Sarat Sahu here Saturday.
Though the mercury level may increase slightly in the state, people will still feel chill, he said.
Moderate to dense fog reducing surface visibility to less than 200 metres is likely to occur over some parts of the state Sunday and Monday, Sahu added.
As per Met report, the lowest temperature in the state Saturday was recorded at Daringibadi (4.5°C), while the temperature was 5.5°C at Phulbani town, 7.5°C at Sundergarh, 8.6°C at Hirakud, 9.5°C at Bhawanipatna, 9.6°C at Angul, 9.7°C at Keonjhar, 9.8°C at Jharsuguda, 10°C each at Bolangir, Koraput and Sonepur.
