Sajanagad: Heavy rains lashed Nilagiri NAC in Balasore district Saturday night while rainwater gushed down the Swarnchunda hill and left over 15 families in ward-2 marooned.
Two houses belonging to Bangara Patra and Bahu Patra caved in due to the heavy rains. Rainwater entered most houses in the locality.
Residents faced a lot of problems as drain water also entered their houses. They alleged that some drains have been bunged up with dirt and silt while they have not been cleared despite repeated reminders to the NAC authorities.
Further, they pointed out that water fails to pass through a hume pipe on the State Highway-19.
Nilagiri MLA Sukant Nayak and NAC chairperson Radhagobinda Khatua and other civic body officials visited the affected ward and took stock of the situation.
