Raise frequency of trains at Attabira: BJD

New Delhi: Bargarh MP Prabhas Kumar Singh (BJD) has sought increase in the frequency of trains at Attabira railway station in the district.

The BJD MP has asked the Ministry of Railways in the Lok Sabha whether the ministry would make Attabira station a stoppage for trains like Bhubaneswar-Bolangir Intercity Express and Nagavali Express after the long-standing demand of the local people. However, the Ministry has denied increasing the frequency of trains at the railway station.

Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain, in a written reply to the Lower House, said that two pairs of mail/express and three pairs of passenger trains are making halts at Attabira railway station which is enough for the station.

The minister further said that (12893/12894) Bhubaneswar-Bolangir Intercity Express and (22809/22810) Nagavali Express are high speed trains and are already having non-scheduled stoppage at Bargarh Road which is 18 kms away from Attabira. The minister added that it is improper to make another stoppage for the high-speed train at such a short distance.
