Bhubaneswar, July 26:A monthlong theatre workshop in the city concluded with a bang! More than 25 aspiring theatre artistes brought the curtain downs on the workshop titled Rangabharati-10 by staging a magnificent play at Bhanja Kala Mandap, Tuesday. The play Dhadi Ramayana has been directed by Abinna Routray. It is based on Bengali writer Manoj Mitra’s story Puti Ramayan. It has been translated into Oriya language by Suresh Balabantray. The play depicts how ego blinds a ruler. His ego prevents him from differentiating between the good and the bad. The ruler is the mythological character of King Ravaana. The play showcases how his outlook towards life was changed by a character Dhadi Rama. Thus, the play is actually a modification of the epic, Ramayana. “We tried to give satirical angle to the original story of Ramayana,” said the director. Meanwhile, the creative director of the workshop highlighted the main objective of the workshop. “The main focus of this workshop was to ignite new ideas in actors and give them a platform. We hope this workshop will help them follow the right path and motivate them,” creative director of the workshop, Routray said. Rohan Yadav who played the character of Ravaana said that he had learnt a lot from the workshop and it would help him in becoming a better actor.
