Ramsey hat-trick lifts Arsenal

London: Aaron Ramsey scored a brilliant hat-trick to help Arsenal rout Everton 5-1 in their Premier League encounter here, Saturday. It was however Arsenal’s new man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who hogged the limelight when he scored on his debut for the Gunners.

Earlier, new signing Alexis Sanchez missed a spot kick only to score on the rebound as Manchester United defeated Huddersfield Town 2-0.

At the Old Trafford, the hosts went in front in the 55th minute when Lukaku met Juan Mata’s cross to score his fourth goal in his last six appearances. Sanchez then doubled the lead in the 68th minute.

Ramsey opened the scoring for Arsenal in the sixth minute when he tapped in a Henrikh Mkhitaryan cross from the right. Eight minutes later, Mesut Ozil’s corner was flicked on by Shkodran Mustafi and his header in turn was met by the diving head of Laurent Koscielny to score.

Ramsey then teed up his strike from 20 yards out and his shot got a deflection from Eliaquim Mangala to go past Everton goalie Jordan Pickford.

In the 37th minute, Aubameyang opted for the delicate chip over Pickford after the former Borussia Dortmund striker getting a through ball from Mkhitaryan. However, it could be clearly seen that the Gabon international was clearly in a half-a-yard offside position.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin then pulled one back for Everton in the 64th minute when he headed in a Yannick Bolasie cross from the left. Ramsey then completed the rout as well as his hat-trick in the 74th minute, when Everton woefully failed to clear the ball out wide and Mkhitaryan pounced and crossed to Ramsey who stroked the ball in.
