Bhadrak: A jailor posted in Bhadrak district jail landed in trouble after an engineering college student lodged a police complaint accusing him of blackmailing her with videos of their intimate moments, besides torturing her physically and mentally.
He was identified as Chinmaya Patra, jailor at Bhadrak district jail. A case has been registered against Patra at Bhadrak Town police station under Sections 498A, 494, 495, 406, 417, and 506 of IPC.
As per the complainant, Patra, while working as Karanjia Jailor, befriended the girl on Facebook in 2017 when she was studying in a private engineering college in Balasore.
After a few chats and false promises, he proposed love and even married her at a temple in Khiching area of Mayurbhanj district. He then kept her in his government quarters for two months during which he kept physical intimacy with her.
He also recorded moments of their intimacy in his mobile phone. Meanwhile, the victim came to known that Patra was a married man and has two children.
After knowing the truth, the victim distanced herself from him and opposed him from contacting her. However, Patra allegedly threatened her and forced to continue their relationship. He threatened her not to disclose the matter to anyone and forced her to meet his physical demands.
When the girl objected, he started blackmailing her with the recorded videos of their private moments, she alleged.
“He is threatening that he will upload my private videos and pictures in social media platforms. He is calling me to his quarters and is raping me without my consent. He has been torturing me mentally and physically,” said the girl.
“The girl filed a complaint at Bhadrak Town police station against the jailor Saturday. A case has been registered and investigation into the matter is underway,” said Jalandhar Jali, SDPO, Bhadrak.
