Bhubaneswar: The principal of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan here has regretted that the name of state Higher Education secretary was mentioned in a news item appeared in these columns by mistake with regard to an agitation by the institute’s students Tuesday.
“The deputy director of Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) had made some harsh comments at some of our students. The students had staged a sit-in to protest the comments Tuesday. However, the name of Higher Education secretary was dragged due to wrong information provided by the students. We deeply regret our students’ folly,” said principal Harekrushna Mahapatra.
Meanwhile, the Higher Education department also clarified that the students of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan have never met the department’s secretary. So, the question of passing derogatory remarks at the students does not arise at all, said the department in a letter issued Thursday.
