Ravenshaw to be node for online library network

Bhubaneswar, Feb 28: The state government has decided to develop an online inter-university library network for all state-run varsities and has also decided to undertake digitization of the libraries.
The decision was taken at a recently-held high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati.
The meeting, where it was decided that Ravenshaw University will act as the nodal centre for the project, also that all teaching and non-teaching posts of the university would be
filled up.
It was also decided to keep the Ravenshaw Junior College inside the varsity campus instead of shifting it to Jobra or Malgodown. The academic building and the girl’s hostel of the junior college will be constructed over 2.272 acres of land near the east hostel of Ravenshaw University. The boy’s hostel will be come up near Jobra and district authorities have been asked to provide 3.30 acres of land for this.
The authorities have also been asked to demolish the existing dilapidated quarters inside the campus and construct an eight-storied residential apartment block, about 10 per cent of which will be for the accommodation of Plus II staff members.
The general administration department has also been asked to allot suitable space for the functioning of the NCC office of the junior college.
The chief architect of the state will prepare a master plan for the university, taking into consideration the landscape and heritage building on the present campus as well as the utilization of the second campus. Funds have already been sanctioned for the construction of the second academic block of the university.
