Bhubaneswar: The newly-appointed Vice-Chancellor of Ramadevi Women’s University, Aparajita Chowdhury, Thursday said that the varsity’s objective would be to get 12B and 2F UGC certificates and to apply for NAAC accreditation as the institution has completed the required six years.
She said this while addressing the 6th foundation day celebration of the university here. Chowdhury discussed her immediate goals for the university.
Regarding vacancy in several posts, she said the recruitment process will be completed soon after discussion with the department. She also talked about completing the pending works undertaken by previous VCs. She also spoke about setting short-term goals.
She said the Ramadevi University is currently providing higher education to more than 25,000 girl students in nine districts of the state, but our goal is to reach out to more and more girls in faraway places of the state. She also stressed on achieving ‘gender excellency’ and for that she will require the support of all concerned including students and male staffers of the university.
She said that it is the sixth year of the university and it’s a fact that the beginning stage is very vital for the growth and development of the institution for which cooperation of all stakeholders is required.
Former VC of Fakir Mohan University, Balasore, Madhusmita Das, said that women empowerment is helpful not only for the girls but for nation building. She also said development and growth of women’s universities such as Ramadevi Women’s University is very important.
PG Council chairperson Sasmita Mohanty presented the annual report and said that in the academic session 2019-20, the university had achieved multiple milestones and had done good work in improving the infrastructure. It had collaborated with multiple international universities for enhancement of knowledge of the students. The university had inaugurated the Centre for Skill Development Training and Sarala Devi Centre for Gender Research. This apart, the university had also signed MoU with Miranda House, University of Delhi.
She also said, “Despite Covid-19 pandemic, imparting education was not affected as we had provided online education since the lockdowns began.”
