Bhubaneswar, June 30: A temporary exhibition titled ‘Tribals of India – Eastern region’ has been inaugurated at Regional Museum of Natural History (RMNH), Friday. Scientist and joint director of Eastern Regional Office of MoEF&CC, AK Gupta said that the exhibition will help visitors to know about the tribes, residing in the eastern region of the country. Several posters and tribal art and handicrafts are displayed on the corridors of the museum. They will remain there for around two to three months. “This is an initiative to spread
awareness on tribal communities, found in eastern region, among the visitors. We have tried to share
basic information about tribal people, their habitat, food habits, beliefs, art and culture. In the exhi
bition, we have displayed some items of day-to-day use, tribal paintings, and brass metal works,” said head of the museum, Gaurav. “Though the eastern region is known for various tribes, we have included only a few tribal groups. We are planning to include more of them in the exhibition. These exhibits will be changed in every two to three months,” he added.
