Rice godown raided in Bant, stocks short of 1400 sacks

Bhadrak: A special squad following the direction of the district administration Wednesday carried out an inspection at the rice godown at Bant sadar headquarters. The stock of rice at the godown was 1400 sacks short of 5,694 prescribed number.

Earlier inspection of Basudevpur godown revealed that it had more rice sacks than the prescribed stock, and now the shortcoming is a clear indication that a rice-bungling racket is active in the district.

Such incidents are coming to the fore time and again, and the administration’s inaction against these rackets is only encouraging the defaulters to go unabated, it was alleged.

District supply officer Kedarnath Nayak, Bhadrak block supply officer Babulal Barik, Bant block supply officer Sushant Kumar Sahoo, district sadar procurement officer Rajalaxmi Panda and junior accountant Ramesh Chandra Biswal formed the squad that conducted the raid. The officials informed that the report on the finding of the raid would be deposited with the district administration.
