Ride marks 60 years of Swiss presence in bicycle manufacturing

BHUBANESWAR: More than 55 riders assembled with 22 Bikes, an authorised bike dealer, in Sahid Nagar to join the nation-wide celebration representing Bhubaneswar Squad to commemorate 60 years of presence of Scott, a Swiss bike manufacturer.

The gathering contained a large number of BCAC members along with a few non-member riders. The bikes were checked for BIB numbers prior to flagging-off. The ride started exactly at 6:55 am and the peloton covered Maharshi College, Rupali Square, Acharya Vihar, Jayadev Vihar, KIIT, and ended at Nandankanan.

Riders to complete their 60 minutes of cycling moved forward to a few additional kms beyond Nandankanan and returned back to the finishing point. BCAC in association with 22 Bikes (the only Scott Dealer in Odisha) lead the Bhubaneswar Squad to commemorate 60 years of presence of Scott.

On this occasion, Scott has planned a 60-minute bicycle ride across 30 cities in India. More than 1000 riders rode across more than 20,000 kms within 60 minutes. More than 50 riders from BCAC and 22 Bikes signed-up for this gala event and joined this National Jamboree with the Bhubaneswar Squad.

The peloton of cyclists in green Scott jerseys was quite a scene for the public. With a message of #NoShortCuts, the riders finished the ride in style. The event was a huge success for BCAC (with the most riders) in this celebration ride. The event ended with free merchandise distribution at Nandankanan to all participants and a sumptuous breakfast and hot tea on the wintery cold morning.

Scott Sports India opened the event through their Facebook page and local dealers. 22 Bikes, being the sole dealer of Scott in Odisha, has been authorized as the support agency for this ’60 Years Celebration Ride’ by the Scott Sports. As the event reached people, many riders signed up for this event through the Scott Web Portal and activated their Strava feeds with the allocated BIB number.

Scott Sports India has announced to offer different promotional merchandise to make this event more appealing to the riders. There were 25 Scott cycling jerseys for the first 25 registrants, and for others it was various accessories from Syncross. All registered riders were suggested to wear jerseys provided by Scott (for the first 25) and tag their bikes with the BIB numbers.

With this endeavour, Scott Sports India has organised the largest ever ride in India across 30 cities with more than 1000 riders. The riders who registered for this event were felicitated with free merchandise from Scott Sports. Scott, which has put nothing but passion with every pedal stroke, stride and carve, has put the same passion to make this event popular at the national level.

Apart from jerseys and accesories, all registered riders received a 5-red-led Rear Light from Probikes, #NoShortCut Finisher Badge, Scott Merchandise, and Breakfast along with e-Certificate from Scott. All riders recorded their rides on Strava with an aim to cover the distance equivalent to India’s land frontier.
