Bhubaneswar, March 18: Rising Students entered the final of the NM Bhuyan Memorial cricket tournament after registering a massive 173-run victory over Pragati Sporting (PS) at the BJB Ground here Friday.
Opting to bat first, star- studded Rising Students notched up a mammoth 302 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 40 overs. Sujit Lenka (87), Biplab Samantray (69), Arvind Singh (63) and Abhisek Yadav (50) hit brilliant half centuries to help the team cause together.
In reply, Pragati Sporting were never in the chase and folded for 129 all out in only 28.5 overs. Only Piyush Acharya (55) showed some mettle with the bat. Tweaker Dhiraj Singh (3/28) turned out to be the best bowler for the winning side. Arvind (1/11) supported him well and was rightly adjudged man of the match for his all-round show.
