Chandikhole: Tension ran high on Duburi-Chandikhole road after a man was allegedly run over by an unidentified vehicle on Panikoili National Highway near Chandikhole in Jajpur district Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Deepak Dalei of Sorei village.
Irate family members and relatives suspected foul play and staged a road blockade Saturday morning. The agitators claimed that it was a pre-planned murder and they demanded the immediate arrest of the murderers. They warned to continue their agitation till the arrest of the accused.
The local police reached the spot and tried to pacify the mob.
According to Dalei’s wife Jharana, two persons from the same village called Dalei while the family was going to bed after dinner Friday night.
However, Dalei’s body was found on the NH Saturday morning while the two villagers who had accompanied him were missing.
The family members and villagers staged a road blockade by placing the body on the road. The agitation is going on till the filing of this report.
